Wedding Pictures in Barcelona – Park Guell
Wedding Pictures
A picture is worth more than a thousand words but I think wedding pictures are more than that; it consists of love, promise, memory, passion, and joy.
That’s what makes them timeless and priceless at the same time. A bit cheesy, maybe, but in the end for sure you want to have some stunning looking footage of your wedding day. And I would say that the surrounding of wedding pictures is quite essential. Therefore, I will write several blog posts about different locations within the city of Barcelona that could make an excellent wedding pictures decorum. For this post I am zooming in on Park Guell, an amazing garden complex created by Antoni Gaudi.
Let’s start with a little bit of history:
For the creation of this garden complex, Gaudi collaborated with one of his best friends, Eusebi Guell. The initial plan was to build an exclusive housing complex with 60 luxury private villa’s. However, only 2 of the 60 villa’s were sold. One of which was Gaudi’s and that’s exactly where he lived 1906-1926. Today this beautifully bright pink building named ‘La Torre Rosa’ houses the Casa Gaudi Museum with drawings, decorations and furniture designed by himself.
In 1923 the park became municipal property and in 1984 it was declared part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
No surprise there, because Gaudi’s extraordinary imagination amazes people from all over the world. The park is filled with hidden little areas, secret gardens, steps and passages that would make your wedding pictures really amazing. At the entrance of the park you will find Alice in Wonderland-like gatehouses. Really adorable, like fairy tale cupcake houses. The actual mascot of the park, is a big friendly looking multicolored mosaic salamander, that guards the steps that lead to the Sala Hipostila.
The Sala Hipostila is an open area with 86 columns that underpin the large terrace above, which was actually meant to be used as a community marketplace. All the way around this terrace curves an impressive colorful snake-like bench – known as the world’s longest bench. This area of the park offers an almost magical background for extraordinary wedding pictures. From there you have a breathtaking view over the city of Barcelona on the one side and lush gardens with parots and hummingbirds flying around on the other.
