Wedding Dress – How to find the one?! – Wedding Stories
Wedding Dress
When you are ready to start shopping for your perfect wedding dress, it means that you have already figured out which silhouette and what material features your body type best and of course the actual color of the wedding dress. You have put your wedding dress shopping posse together and you have a clear idea about your wedding hair-do and wedding make-up. You know what wedding shoes you would like to wear and what (if anything) on your head. You have scheduled your appointment far ahead and the wedding dress consultants are waiting for you with wide open arms.
Wait, none of the above? Are you getting hot flashes, maybe starting to become a bit panicky? Having a hard time to breath? No worries! This post will cover the most important Do’s and Don’ts of how to find the perfect wedding dress. So read on, stress less and spend some more time on the rest of your wedding planning to-do list.
Do – At home, research a lot before you decide to make wedding dress appointments. Look at magazines and online. Pinterest might be a good idea and websites of the designers you like. Bridal shops might limit their appointment time; therefore it’s good to have already narrowed down your options and dresses you like before setting foot in the wedding dressing room. The first step to start narrowing down, is to decide on the best shape of gown for your body type. Some, already have a clear idea of what kind of wedding dress they always wanted but later on it turns out that it’s not flattering their body type and does not look the way they imagined so it’s good to keep your mind open to different options.
Don’t – Schedule your appointment late in the day. You will want your wedding dress consultant to be fresh and energetic. At the end of the day you might not get their badly needed full attention.
Do – Shop with a supportive wedding dress shopping crew. Put your team together with care and make sure you trust that these people’s opinions are honest and straight forward. You will want to focus on yes and no’s, not maybe’s, not sure’s and don’t know’s.
Don’t – Include Miss Negativity and Miss I Can Not Make Up My Mind in your shopping posse, because you will want to avoid bad energy and long stretched fitting sessions.
Do – Your hair and make-up. Make sure you look and feel fabulous before you try on any wedding dress.
Don’t – Just roll out of bed and expect a wedding dress to look smashing on you. For you to be able to imagine the whole picture your face and hair will have to look weddingy too.
(note: please be careful with make-up stains! Make sure you get all the help you need with putting on the wedding dresses)
Do – Bring your camera on your wedding dress shopping spree and photograph your perfect wedding dress ops.
Don’t – Try not to be so obvious as some of the designers don’t allow to take pictures of their gowns.
Do – Try on as many wedding dresses as you need to.
Don’t – Try on wedding dresses just because they are trendy and ‘in fashion’.
Do – Wear a great fitted bra when you are trying on wedding dresses and also bring a strapless version.
Don’t – Worry about the fit of the wedding dresses that you try on. They all tend to be quite oversized (2 or 3 sizes) but once you have found your perfect dress, they will perfectly shape and tailor it to fit your body.
