Cava: “Spanish Bubbles” – Wedding Stories
Cava: “Spanish Bubbles”
Just as important as cake tastings and food trials and maybe some more cake tastings for your wedding dinner is deciding on the type of bubbles you would like to toast with. Because let’s be honest, nothing feels more celebrative than raising a sparkling, chilled glass of bubbles to the happily married couple. Except drinking a glass of sparkling, chilled bubbles.
Of course everybody knows the traditional French Champagne, but let us introduce you to the typical Spanish sparkling wine, called Cava and is mostly produced in Catalunya. Cava can be white (blanco) or rosé (rosado). Actually it was in the past referred to as the ‘Spanish Champagne’ so really the both are quite alike.
However, the misperception exists that Cava is a lesser version of Champagne. When in fact the only differences between Champagne and Cava relate to the regions where they are produced and the type of grapes used during production. Cava is just as celebrative and not unimportant to mention, a lot more gentle to the wallet.
To many, Cava tastes slightly fresher and fruitier and is served chilled but not freezing cold. It’s bubbly, yummy, and celebrative and makes the perfect drink for a wedding toast at your reception or as aperitif for your wedding.
Cheers!
